The best way to start colleting BJD or Ball Joint Dolls?

I'm looking to start collecting these BJD's and I've looked through the internet, I would like to get a male 60 inch one first, and I know the main company that they come from is Super Dollfie. I would just like to know how would be the best way to start, especially one such as I who doesn't even know about the process of applying the makeup to them.

Is a 60cm doll a Super Dollfie?

I'm getting a Dollfie for Christmas, and I have the eyes, hair, shoes, dress, and eyelashes, all I need now is the body. My other items fit a Super Dollfie, and the body I want to order is a 60cm body. Is a 60cm body a Super Dollfie?

A 60 cm body is a Super Dollfie 13, specifically. So yes, it is.

Though, be careful about buying a body if you're not buying the body from the same company as the head. Dolls from different companies have different skintones. There are some that closely match each other, but that requires a lot of research to find which ones do.

Edit: Just remembered something. Does the body have ball joints and strung with elastic? Then it is a "dollfie." If it has squeeky joints with no elastic, then it's an obitsu, even though obitsus are 60 cm as well.

Oh. wow. Where to begin.

Super Dollfies are ball jointed dolls strung together with elastic. Specifically, "Super Dollfies" are of the Volks' doll line, but there are other doll companies so from now on, I'll call these dolls BJDs. How many kinds are there....oh god. Too many. Seriously.
Pullips are not BJDs/Dollfies.
BJD's are made out of resin, but there was the old Dollfie Dream doll which was made out of vinyl. I don't know if I want to call those BJD's completely.

I'm a total newbie in Lolita fashion and I was wondering if the Gothic and Lolita Bible magazines were any good?

Okay, I have 2 vols in english, so I have a little idea what sorta stuff is in there. For sewing, the instructions are straightforward, but you might want to consult a japansese sewing guide or something. Theres a lotta resources on Avant Gauche.
The patterns can be anything, from a dress (though pretty simple one) to accessories, bags, blouses, etc. The patterns are rated from very easy to very hard (?)
Theres the street snaps, from both Japan and other places, events around the world about Gothic Lolita, the catalouges, and the pretty pictures from photo shoots of Mana, Kaya, etc.
