Can someone tell me where I can find a doll bed that will fit my American Girl doll?

I don't want to buy one from American Girl because they are too expensive and I looked at a blue one at target and it was out of stock. If you would please give me a link or a place that might have one that would be great. Thanks!!

You can try craft fairs, and craft stores (i.e. AC Morre, Michael’s). For now, till you find one, you can use the box that your doll came in. Put a thick blanket in the bottom of the box for a mattress, make pillow of some sort and then a blanket or two to go on top of the doll. Keep an eye out a re-sell stores for beds too.
You can also make a shelf bed. If you have an empty shelf in your room, you can make it into a doll bed. Take a piece of foam (that you may wont to cover in some sort of fabric), and put it on the shelf. The foam should be a size reasonable for a doll bed. Then use some more fabrics to make a pillow, sheets, and bankets. Or use a sleeping bag that you can sew or buy. They do sell a doll sleeping bag at American Girl. Hope that helps!

If you see a beautiful raincoat that fits and you can afford, take and run. Don't stop until you are through the check-out line. Designers are neglecting this wardrobe necessity. It's challenging to find anything other the plain-brown-wrapper of a trenchcoat in neutral colors.

Double-breasted, belted, sometimes with epaulets and buckles on sleeves, lined or unlined, the trench raincoat can go anywhere and never goes out of style. We see them in films from the 1920s and last year.

It's a fashion classic -- but why does the trenchcoat have to be the only rain wear fashion? Even the usual colors are a dreary list of neutral tones. Wouldn't it be grand to see it in jewel hues of sapphire, ruby, and emerald, or an array of earthy pumpkin, loden green, and maple-leaf yellow.

Leavening the mix recently have been some gaily patterned rain boots. These are rather like the dreaded black rubber galoshes our mothers insisted we wear, but all dressed up in fresh color such as fuchsia and green paisley.

One may also brighten a rainy day with one of the flower-shaped umbrellas available from some retailers. You may find shelter beneath the petals of a giant sunflower or fronds of palm. These umbrellas are clever and colorful.

When purchasing a raincoat, be sure to read the fabric descriptions carefully. Some are water-resistant, but not waterproof. Slickers with PVC or rubberized coatings may be waterproof, but sweaty and hot underneath. Some raincoats may not be dry-cleaned. I ruined one doing exactly that.

A beautiful raincoat can brighten a gray day and lift the spirits. Manufacturers are missing a huge potential market by offering a limited selection of neutrally-colored trenchcoat plain brown wrappers.

Can I super glue a piece of fabric on my nylon rain coat, and it will be ok?

My favourite rain coat is damaged, it was burnt at the back, and the only thing i can think of to fix it is to glue a piece of fabric with super glue on the burn and maybe sew it after to make stronger. Do you think it will be ok? It is a serious question honestly.

Use tear mender:

"Tear Mender is a natural latex cement that bonds to most fabrics. It is waterproof and U.V. resistant. Although Tear Mender touts itself as a fabric cement, we found its uses more impressive on nylon, rubber, naugahyde, etc. It seems to leave a visible shiny glaze on softer, more absorbent fabrics. Tear Mender smells like dirty diapers because it has a high ammonia content, and although it is only slightly worse for you than changing dirty diapers, it should be used in a well ventilated area. Also, people with allergies to latex should not touch or use this product. Tear-Mender takes about 15 to 30 minutes to dry depending on application, and holds quite well on most synthetic materials. It remains flexible, and claims to survive extreme hot or cold temperature. How do you carry or roll up a mummy sleeping bag?

I just got a new mummy sleeping bag and don't know how to carry it up the mountain. It didn't come with a stuff sack but do I go and buy one or will it not fit? Does it somehow stuff into itself in some pouch or something? Thanks a lot...I've always stuck with the old sleeping bags and when I finally got a new one I don;t know what to do with it.

Although it is possible to role up a mummy sleeping bag I recommend purchasing a stuff sack for it. It makes things much simpler.

For those interested in an exciting outdoor adventure in the cooler weather, winter camping may be the choice for you. Winter camping brings an entirely new element to the activity of camping. Not only do you see the great outdoors in a totally different light, it also offers different challenges from summer camping.

Winter Camping Supplies

It is important to have the correct supplies for winter camping, as this is can, at times, have a level of danger not present at other times of the year. Things to bear in mind include rapid changes in the weather the weather may be fine and sunny, although cool, when you leave to hike to your destination and within minutes a winter storm can blow up. Dress appropriately in layers for winter camping. Avoid wearing cotton. Cotton does not dry quickly and retains the water against your skin causing you to become even colder with the added risk of hypothermia developing.

For winter camping trips always wear nylon or wool clothing ... wool should be used for socks. Dress in layers starting with a thin layer of clothing against your skin. There are some sport-wool fabrics that are used in long johns, next a warm layer of clothing that may be a fleece type material and finally a quick-drying outer layer from a material like nylon or goretex. Always wear woolen socks to keep the feet dry and comfortable.

Make sure you have appropriate boots for winter camping. Boots must be water repellent or have a protective coating to keep them from absorbing water. Always wear a hat or a woolen beanie and bring an extra one just in case. A great deal of body heat can be lost through an uncovered head.

Wear or carry gloves and have them attached to your jacket to prevent losing them. Light weight glove liners can be added for extra warmth.

Winter-weight camping tents can be purchased, although sometimes they can be heavier to carry. Depending on where you are going and how far you are hiking, you may be quite comfortable in a three-season tent. A four-season or winter tent will stand up to strong winds, will repel all forms of precipitation and be able to withstand a heavy fall of snow.

If you do not have a tent you may be able to build a snow shelter for protection, however, you'll want to practice building a snow shelter before you actually need to spend a night in one during a winter hike.

Make sure to bring a sleeping bag that is made to withstand the deep freeze of winter. There are many mummy-type bags that are extremely warm and designed to withstand temperatures of 10 degrees and below. A foam underlay may also be a useful addition to keep the sleeping bag off the ground and away from moisture. The pad can also be used to sit on during the day.

When winter camping make sure to bring food that may be eaten without heating up. Although waterproof matches are available, sometimes it is difficult to find tinder when winter camping. Have a supply of food that you carry with you when winter camping, in case you lose your original supply.

Can I put my handmade quilt in the dryer?

My mother sent my a new winter quilt recently, but it needed to be washed because her rabbit slept on it and I'm very allergic. On her advise I put it in the washer, but now I'm not certain how to dry it. I live in a very small apartment in a very damp climate. So laying it flat as I know is best isn't an option. I want to know if I can put the quilt by itself in the dryer on delicate.

My grandmother made me a quilt not too long ago and gave me washing directions with it. You can dry it. Tumble dry, on low.
