Canada is home to one of the most exciting miniature shows in North America. The West Coast Dollhouse and Miniature Show welcome everyone with adoration for miniatures to come and pay them a visit. The location is beautiful for sight seeing among other things so a trip to this show is well worth the time invested. Enjoy the weather in this location near the ocean while you attend the weekend long event. It certainly makes a great getaway for hobby enthusiasts.

Can anyone help me identify this movie?

I can vaguely remember this movie from when i was a kid, which featured this group of kids, who went to a fair or circus and came back with a Little clown doll.When they got home their parents left them in the house alone.A group of clowns then proceeded to gather outside and build a wooden platform with a noose in which to hang someone from.One of the clowns gathering outside then waved at the children who were watching from the window of the house.
At that point i then left the room and ran upstairs-i was about seven at the time.Can anyone else remember this?

Are items sold in the USA still marked Made in Taiwan? this pertains to a doll house miniature?

Label has the symbol t S interwoven into one as well as saying Made in Taiwan and I am trying to check on the vintage.

While most things imported are made in China now, I don't know if you'll be able to find out it's age just going by it being made in Taiwan, I'm guessing that things are still being imported from there. Doll House miniatures became a big thing in the late 70's - early 80's, but I don't think the things made then have any more value than the things made now. Most of the doll house items made in the 60's and earlier were made for children's doll houses and some go pretty high, especially those made by Renwal. Most things made in the 1960's and earlier would be marked Japan.

I just searched for Taiwan in the dollhouse miniature catagory of ebay and I saw that Hello Dolly stuff was made there... I remember that from the 80's, you can do a search and see if you find your item listed.

You'd find these books in craft stores like acmoore and michaels in the fimo clay aisle. Or you can google "miniature dollhouse" and go from there. A lot of these websites not only sell ready-made furniture and foods, they also sell books and pamphlets with step-by-step instructions on how to make them yourself. Actual 'miniature' shops also carry them, if you happen to have one near you.

Now, building a dollhouse is no big deal. If you do not have sufficient time to build a dollhouse manually, then the quick-build dollhouse is meant to the best option for you. They are affordable and convenient to use. Everything is made up of robust wood with minimal damage during usage.

Also, a person with general basic knowledge can assemble the pieces together with just a wood glue and screwdriver. What scale you should use? Generally, a 1/12 scale is quite popular for building furnishings and accessories. But if the doll is 15 inches tall, then using a 1/12 scale is worthless.

Finalizing the shape and size will be moving a one ahead. Generally, a one-story, one-room cottage is the best option to begin with. Though, several choices ranging from multistory concoctions to a Victorian dripping are available.

Now draw a pattern using a simple pencil and ruler. With a minimum six pieces: base, three side walls and two roof pieces, you can build a one-room cottage.

Using a three-quarter inch wood for base would be fine and 3/8 inch for walls and roof would be a good choice.

Now mark the holes for the doors and windows using a ruler.

Cutting the wood is the next step. You can do this by your own hands, but using a circular saw will save a lot of time.

Cut out the doors and windows. To give it a fine touch, try using electric drill for drilling the holes.

Make all the edges smooth using sandpaper.

Assemble the wood pieces using the wood glue and nails.

Use sandpaper again over all the nails.

Lastly, paint it if required.

dollhouse miniatures-Need to make something look like liquid in a container without using epoxy.?

I am teaching a miniatures class and want to have something resembling a green "liquid" in a witch's cauldron. Any ideas other than using epoxy? Want something easy to use in class. Thanks.

Future floor polish would probably be best due to total cost for a number of students, quicker setting-time, etc. (Btw, Future has recently been renamed "Pledge--With Future Shine" since it was bought out by the makers of the Pledge products. Mop 'N Glo, if that's still sold, is the same thing. Huge bottle of either for a few dollars. Check Walmart/Target and drug stores if you can't find them at groceries.)

You can color Future with anything water-based --like watercolor paints (the concentrated ones in tubes would be best), water-based inks/dyes, food colors (the thick ones would give strongest colors), acrylic paints (don't use much or color will become more opaque rather than transparent), etc.

Some of the other things would also work, but may be more expensive or fiddly:
...gloss acrylic medium (near acrylic paints in craft/art supply stores)
...clear fingernail polish (use the water-based kind, for acrylic nails, if you want to use water-based colorants)
...clear polyurethane (water-based for water-b. colorants)
...gelatin, but will naturally have a yellowish cast so add *blue* coloring to get green
...even diluted permanent white glues should work, but take a long time to become really clear probably... experiment

A number of those could be applied using a drinking straw (or tiny coffee straw) if you don't have a bunch of eyedroppers... the old technique: put end of straw in liquid, block other end of straw with finger, move to area where liquid is wanted, remove finger to deposit liquid.

"safe" resins, by the way (though have softer surfaces or softer surfaces from body heat, etc.):
...floral setting resin (very safe), in floral depts of craft stores
...Easy Cast ... a tweaked version of epoxy resin (safe)
For resins of any kind, color with artists oil paints rather than with water-based colorants.

Google doll house miniatures. Although most of the sites that come up are for 1" scale (1" = 1ft), they might also sell smaller things like 1/2 inch scale. Craft stores might also have tiny furniture. You can also make 'wallpaper' by cutting scrapbooking paper down to size.

I made up a page of dollhouse miniatures on "paint", I have them saved on Microsoft office word. (more*)

When I made a copy at home they were the perfect size, but when I emailed it to the print shop to be put on card stock they made the pages up in 11 x 14 instead of 8.5 x 11.
What did I do wrong?
The print shop said I sent them as 11 x 14.
How do I send them as 8.5 x 11 instead?
I'd really appreciate some help here!

You need to change the page size in Word.
If you're using Word 2007: Under the "Page Layout" tab, choose "Size".
Other versions of Word: I don't remember exactly what it's called. I think it's in the "File" menu. Look for something like page properties or page setup. If you can't see it try searching "page size" in Word help.
