Following the success of the Strawberry Shortcake product line they had designed, in 1981 American Greetings Card Company released a new series that starred the Care Bears. The Care Bears began as a series of greeting cards that had been drawn by childrenÂ’s illustrator Elena Kucharik. Two years later, after the greeting card series was in full swing, Kenner released the Care Bear Teddy Bear line.

Each Care Bear was a uniquely colored teddy bear with a white patch on their stomach that had a specialized insignia on its belly. For example, Good Luck Bear had a shamrock, Bed Time Bear had a crescent moon, and Grumpy Bear had a rain cloud. After the release, the Care Bears were seen in their own television series and had three full-length movies. In addition, they spawned a second set of stuffed animal toys, that were called Care Bear Cousins. Animals like lions, monkeys, elephants, penguins and raccoons were designed in the same style of the care bear teddy bears. The Bears live in a land called the Kingdom of Care-A-Lot where they fight negativity and sadness with a special super-hero like move they called the Care Bear Stare. The Care Bear Stare occurs when the Care Bears stand together and radiate light from their respective tummy symbols, combining to form a ray of love and cheer which is supposed to be strong enough to bring joy and care into even the darkest heart. Kid specific records, books, board games and video games soon followed.

Now, 25 years after their initial release, Care Bears are still being marketed and kids still love them all over the world. My son goes to bed at 7pm,I think this about right,particularly on school days.Saturday night he gets to stay up till 8. Having discussed this with friends some think I am too strict,what time do your kids go to bed?

the real question is why are you sending him to bed? because he is tired? because you are tired of him? Because you have heard that others ppl have a set time for their kids to go to bed?
I have 3 children all under age 10, 9 and 4. they have to go to their rooms at 9. They can read or play, but they have to be quiet. absolutely no TV or other electronic devices xbox, etc. i have one daughter that some nights don't sleep at all. the oldest 2 are in school and have excellent grades, i find no draw back from the sleep they get. in fact bed time is not a battle, they look forward to the time the get to unwind. i don't have to fight with them to "go to sleep'.
Some kids need structure and some don't, every child is different.

Do I need to buy my toddler son a doll?

My son is 18 months and attached to my hair. He loves to play with and touch it when he is bored, when we cuddled and especially at nap/bed time. Most of the time I don't mind it but I was thinking that if he had a substitute at bedtime, then maybe I wouldn't need to lay in his room w/ him for so long. I also have a 5 month old and my husband works late so I have to put the boys to bed alone. It makes it really difficult to put both to bed when I have to lie in my toddler's room for so long.

They have boy cabbage patch dolls. I bought my son one when he was 3. He outgrew it after a year. I think its great to give boys dolls, my son is very much a boy, but also very good with babies.

Little Mommy Play All Day Toddler Doll

My daughter is 3 months old. She goes to bed at 7:30.
She does fight sleep tho. So even tho I have been trying to enforce bedtime at 7:30 I sometimes end up nursing her and trying to get her to sleep up until 9:30.
I have a hard time getting my daughter to nap during the day. I try to lay her down twice. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon, but she doesn't always nap.

My line of thinking when deciding a bedtime was that I would like to get some time to myself before I go to bed. I go to bed around 10 or 11 so if Julia is in bed at 7:30 or 8 I have a few hours to relax.
