There are many types and styles of dollhouse furniture and one of the newest designs is modern dollhouse furniture. Modern dollhouse furniture is designed post 1960's and has a distinct look and shape to the furniture style. This style works well with any traditional or modern style dollhouse kit.
Furniture Colors: Green
Have you ever thought of using green for your dollhouse furniture? Green dollhouse furniture is the colorful choice for many fun pieces. We have found that it is the quirky pieces of furniture that we have loved the most, and green as quirky as it may be can really add to your dollhouse experience.
Mahogany
Mahogany is a very durable wood that will resist scratches from play time. Mahoganies natural color emanates a beautiful antique look that will add greatly to your dollhouse eye appeal. To be honest, no dollhouse feels complete without a bit of mahogany to add a collectors feel to it. Most antique mahogany pieces were made in the 1700's, and these furniture replicas would fit great in any Victorian dollhouse kit.
Maple Material
Though it is not as popular as mahogany, or oak, maple still provides a great creamy or even reddish brown look to your dollhouse furniture. Maple is one of the tougher woods, chosen for its durability and stress intake, it will often be showcased on basketball courts. As far as furniture, maple pieces are able to take the daily strains of playing and continue to look good. Maple also works well with any type of style or design.
Game and Music
There is no more fun way to make your dollhouse more exciting and chic than by adding a music or game room. Your music room can display a myriad of instruments (including instruments that actually play music, and will lend a gracious, distinguished feel to your home. Game rooms really draw the eye and make viewers smile; they also make dollhouses feel more homey and "real".
Libraries and Office
Whether your dollhouse is old-fashioned or ultra-modern, elegantly Victorian or enchantingly down-to-earth, the library or office really showcases the era you are emulating. A library is one area in which a couple accessories, such as a decorative globe or a stack of acclaimed books, can really help your dollhouse shine. Your library or office instantly brings a little more refinement.
Children's and Nurserys
No room in your dollhouse will be more sweet or nostalgic than a children's room or nursery. You can decorate the children's room to look serene or lively, and the accessories available will enchant you (such as teddy bears, a copy of The Cat in the Hat, or a doll's dollhouse). A nursery can transform your dollhouse into a miniature home with its adorable baby furniture.
Dollhousecity offers dollhouse furniture, kits accessories, and helpful hints in setting up your dollhouse furniture.
Dollhouse kits at Michael's?
I am doing an art project. I am supose to make a dollhouse and furniture for it. I would love to get it at Michael's but I cant seem to really find them online @ michaels even though i have heard they have them. Can you help me out? I need to get a doll house kit. I want to get it @ michaels if possible. Help me please? my limit is around$120.... 10 points to best answer. Thank you soooooooo much!
Dollhouse kits come in all types and prices. Most will have the houses separate though, and many of those are quite complex to make. Do look at "hobby stores" as well as "craft" stores (places that sell model railroad supplies, etc.)... they more often have those kinds of kits.
You don't say how large these things need to be, or how much you're supposed to "make" them.
If you're interested, you can find lots of lessons on making furniture, furnishings, and various other things for a dollhouse, scene, etc., on this page of my website:

(my website is about polymer clay, but air-dry clays will also work for many of them but they do shrink --diff. amts depending on brand...polymer clay doesn't shrink, but it must be baked in a home oven to harden; it won't "dry" ).
And this page has some info on making houses and all kinds of structures --made from polymer clay, or partly with it, or without it:
