There are two things to remember when you are looking to buy dolls online - firstly, there's a difference between buying antique dolls and modern dolls online.

#1. Because they are older there is always a concern that they may be hiding some issues. Things to look for include cracks which can put a dampener on your purchase. Especially look for hairline cracks.

#2. If you are buying the doll physically then ask that you can remove things like the hair so you can check beneath. Always remove the body or ask the seller to do it for you. This only makes sense because when you're looking at shelling out hundreds of dollars you want to make sure your purchase isn't flawed.

#3. Make sure the doll is original if that's what it has been advertised as. This can be difficult to check online and that's why buying through platforms such as Ebay are great in that you are protected in many areas from purchasing a dud.

#4. Also, buying the complete original doll and by complete we mean it has it's original clothing intact can be important. It depends how badly you want it but inexperienced collectors should be aware that replacing parts and clothing can be expensive. It's almost like buying new parts for a motor vehicle - they always seem to be priced over the top.

Polishing and care of Brass on teen and preteen antique automobiles.?

We have been working with brass for many years on early autos but am looking for someone who is "in-the-know" concerning brass cleaning without a heck of a lot of work. We are more interested in the use of chemicals. Buffing speeds and tricks for polishing brass, thin, radiators and lamp bonnets.
We anneal, weld, solder, bend, and have cast brass replacement parts. Do not want a barrage of questions, please. Until we have some answers as that takes time and time is something short on this end as we restore and fabricate origional wooden bodies and are a compleate restoration facility.

Bisque doll....remove paint?

Is it possible to remove the paint from a bisque dolls face? I recently acquired a reproduction doll and her facepaint is horrid. I believe I can do a better job. I'm not even sure if the paint was fired on or not, I really just don't know. I've been trying to look this up and it seems kind of confusing. Thanks for the replies!

most bisque dolls the painting is fired on, in a kiln. It has to be sanded off with glass sand paper which is very hard to find, other sand papers will mar the bisque, it is around motion of sanding. It takes Special brushes long and numbered 0000(size) to repaint they are made especially for brows and lashes, there are fatter brushes for check color. You should practice you technique on another doll first. Hope this gives you an idea of the process.

From Floating Nasturtiums in stemmed goblets of Iced Vichyssoise (an exquisite potato leek bisque) to Herbal Cream Cheese Stuffed Nasturtiums, guests loved the unique spicy taste of these delicate edible flowers.

How To Make Stuffed Nasturtiums

1- 8 ounce package cream cheese

2 Teaspoons fresh chopped herbs

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon green onions, minced

2 Tablespoons mayonnaise

1/4 cup nuts, chopped

1 to 2 dozen nasturtium blossoms, gently washed and dried

1. Soften the cream cheese at room temperature.

2. Combine cream cheese and mayonnaise.

3. Combine all other ingredients EXCEPT Nasturtium Flowers.

4. Roll mixture into miniature balls that will fit into the nasturtium flowers.

5. Serve as a lovely garnish to salads, appetizers, soups and entrees.
